Diana DeGette is a Democratic congresswoman from Colorado. She has been a member of the House of Representatives since 1997 and serves on the Committee on Energy and Commerce. In her 16 years in Congress, she has sponsored a number of bills to advance women's rights and environmental protection. She is a champion of women's health care issues, from access to contraception to access to health care for victims of domestic violence
In 2005, she was named to the National Women's History Project's "Legislators of the Year" list for her work on women's rights.
